Work at the University of Primorska
The aim of the instrument of young researchers is to educate and train new generations of researchers. Young researchers rejuvenate research groups at the UP and bring fresh ideas and approaches to the research space that contribute to the development of scientific research and innovation activity at the UP and beyond.
As a rule, young researchers carry out doctoral studies at the UP and are trained in the framework of the parent research programmes at the UP.
An open call is published each year in spring with a deadline in early summer.
Each year a few postdoctoral research positions are available at the UP, mainly funded through programmes and projects of Slovenian Research Agency and the European Commission.
Most positions are published in the fields of:
- Mathematics,
- Computer Science,
- Sustainable Built Environment,
- Molecular Ecology,
- Health Prevention and Sport Sciences
While some other areas offer positions more sporadically.

Strong research is possible with strong mentors, which is why UP is also attracting experienced research, mainly funded through programmes and projects of Slovenian Research Agency and the European Commission.

UP’s international engagement is also focusing on inclusion and integration and is such capable of also accepting international administrative support staff.
The working language in a lot of instances is English, while the UP also offers free language classes for its staff and their family members.
