Driving licence
There is no time limit for driving licenses issued in EU member states, Liechtenstein, Norway or Iceland.
If you have a habitual residence in the Republic of Slovenia, you can request to exchange your valid driver’s license for a Slovenian driver’s license if you meet the conditions for driving motor vehicles. You will be issued a Slovenian driver’s license if you pass the practical part of the test.
There is no need to do a practical part of driving test if you have a driving licence from EU member or Iceland, Liechteinstein, Norway, San Marino, UK, the three countries of the British Isles (Man, Guernsey and Jersey), Gibraltar and Switzerland for all categories.
For Japan is AM categories, A1, A2, B1 and B, South Korea, United Arab Emirates or Australia for categories B1 and B.
Upon exchange, the driver’s license issued abroad is returned to the authority that issued you the license in your country.
You can submit a request to change your driver’s license at any administrative unit, but you must submit the following:
current driver’s license,
valid medical certificate,
a 35 x 45 mm photograph that shows your real image and is not retouched,
proof of payment of the administrative fee (18,10 EUR) and the driver’s license form (3,27 EUR),
proof that you fulfilled the condition of habitual residence in the country that issued the valid driver’s license when you obtained your driver’s license, or that you studied in that country for at least six months.
